چکیده
Abstract Objective : Micro- and macrovascular changes can occur in heart failure, could influence its prognosis management. In a prospective study, we proposed the evaluation of arterial stiffness (macrovascular function) correlations patients with systolic failure. Methods 40 (32 men, 8 women, mean age 63±2.9 years), hemodynamically stable failure (left ventricular ejection fraction, EF<40%) were enrolled study. every patient, beyond routine explorations (ECG, cardiac carotid ultrasound, laboratory measurements), was assessed by measuring pulse wave velocity (PWV). The PWV clinical echo-cardiographic characteristics studied using t-test chi-square test (p<0.05 being considered for statistical significance). Results average 8.55±2.2 m/s, 16 had increased (>10 m/s). We found significantly higher values older than 65 years (p<0.001), eGFR <60 ml/min/1.73 m2 hypertension (p=0.006), (>1 mm) intima-media thickness (p=0.016). to be lower when EF <30% (p=0.049). Furthermore, presence an correlated (with borderline significance) and, inversely, EF<30%. Conclusions Increased reflected high is frequently present mainly general risk factors involvement. Low EF, due low stroke volume decreased wall tension interpretation PWV.

The prognostic value of arterial stiffness in systolic heart failure.
BACKGROUND Increased arterial stiffness is an indicator of mortality. This study consists of an 18-month follow-up of the mortality in advanced heart failure patients with increased arterial stiffness. METHODS The study followed up 98 patients with a diagnosis of heart failure in NYHA class III and IV (76 males, 22 females and mean age of 60 ± 12 years) with a left ventricular ejection fracti...
متن کاملThe Prevalence of Anemia in Elderly With Systolic Heart Failure
Objectives: Anemia is prevalent in heart failures and is an independent risk factor for adverse clinical outcomes in patients with CHF. The aim of the present study was to determine the prevalence of anemia in elderly with systolic heart failure hospitalized in Alborz Hospital of Karaj in 2009. Methods & Materials: This is a descriptive retrospective study that reviewed 154 medical records o...

Outcomes for heart failure (HF) patients remain suboptimal. No known therapy improves mortality in acute HF and HF with preserved ejection fraction; the most recent HF trial results have been negative or neutral. Improvement in surrogate markers has not necessarily translated into better outcomes. To translate breakthroughs with potential therapies into clinical benefit, a better understanding ...

Background and Purpose: To improve life quality, and lower mortality and rehospitalization for heart failure patients, awareness and adherence to self-care behaviors are essential. This study aims to determine the adherence level to self-care behaviors in the patients with systolic heart failure hospitalized in Alborz hospital in Karaj andShahriar hospital, and it was conducted in 2013. متن کاملEchocardiographic evaluation of systolic heart failure
Echocardiography is the most commonly used modality for evaluating left ventricular size and function in the context of systolic heart failure. Traditional techniques, though extensively used, have their limitations and more recently several newer technologies have emerged that are more reproducible, provide prognostic information, guide therapies and have an important role in monitoring progre...
